shouldn’t you be drinking pepsi at that Bulls game?

Posted on February 28th, 2009 in Princess Wears Prada by hireheels

I certainly don’t begrudge President Obama the occasional recreational activity or leisure time with his family. princess_wears_prada_bylineBut lately I wonder:

Does The President work for Main Street or Madison Avenue?

As The Administration reverts its tenor from catastrophic to cavalier, Time Magazine ponders the critical question plaguing recession-ravaged America: Obama Team’s Drink of Choice…Coke or Pepsi?

Indeed, I live Pepsi’s outrageous Obama-obsessed ad campaign every time I pull out of my garage. The billboards dot the highways and nearly every bus stop I pass in Greater Miami reminds me that if I drink Pepsi, I too may count on a hopeful future. (Too bad I can’t retire on Pepsi.)
Maybe the President opted for beer over Pepsi last night in a celebratory move – his victory in ridding himself of ACORN (with those two huge payoffs). Now he can ditch those Z-list community organizers and hang where he belongs. I’d say that was money well spent!

great post princess. i haven’t seen the pepsi billboards so can’t comment on that, but seeing the picture on your splash page makes me wonder if i will survive four years of our cool-macho-dude-prez.. this entire society is so testosterone-driven that it’s making me physically sick! and barack can be cavalier because he’s a cool dude and that’s what america reveres. this may sound silly, but I’m sick and tired of being at a restaurant and having the waitstaff ask me and my husband “what would you ‘guys’ like to have?” Why don’t they ask “what would you ‘gals’ like to have?” I swear I’m going to flash the next person who calls me a guy! when was the last time a “guy” was in labor for 26 hours giving birth to a child? but if i saw a group of NBA fellas and went over and asked “how are you gals doing?” i probably wouldn’t live to hear their answer!
the “guy” calling may be a small thing to some, but it’s further subtle indoctrination of this testosterone-obsessed patriarchy. I fully expect someday to kneel at the communion rail at church and have Father whomever “fist bump” me as he administers communion.

    you are so right cindy!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Does this man work?

Our President seems to be enjoying too much of the good life while so many are losing homes, unable to feed their kids . . . what the hell is going on??????

Of course he doesn’t work KitKat….when did he?? Meanwhile, the workhorse, Hillary, is practically running the world…at least we notice ;-)

Cindy, I don’t know how anyone could make me laugh this week but you did it again. “fist-bump communion” …that’s great. Yet you raise an important issue. To me, it’s not even the patriarchy, its the lack of basic manners and the phony corporate friendly culture. If they said “gals” I’d be just as offended. Probably more, because to me “gals” is a word in league with “baby” “honey” and “sweetie”. anything that dimnishes women. I’m fed up with the whole culture of fake informal friendliness….we’ll smile while we’re ripping you off for that $14.00 burger.

I haven’t seen the pepsi ads either, but really, who made the Obamas the arbiter of good taste. And if I see one more, tacky lace dress!! Seriously though, of course he’s the Madison Avenue president. That’s how he got funded and that’s how he got elected. The megabucks gave him the money, and the naive bought the pitch on the image.

oops backbaystyle…..i use ‘gals’ all the time…but i agree about the lack of basic manners….brutal out there!!

LOL breckgal…u bet they are…and anyone doubting that we merely have a celebrity in the white house…well, they’ll never see what we’ve known all along.

princess—do you know any ad execs at coca-cola?
i wish they’d put a picture of hillary in the middle of the “o” in “coke”!!!

fabulous idea (why i love my hireheels gals)….and ya know, the press would

      eat it up

(a resurrection of the obama/hillary rivalry)….i think we may do our OWN campaign….in fact DIET COKE is what most women drink (i believe)…don’t know anyone, but i doubt they’d do it (they’d lose their urban drinkers)

  10. Cindy said,

hireheels—-well i am tongue-tied in texas! cannot believe those ads!
as for diet coke….i prefer, and I think more people are beginning to prefer, coke zero. they put more syrup in it, but no calories. and it really tastes good! (in my opinion)

and coke zero would be perfect for hillary, because that’s the amount of respect the democrats gave her. and “zero” is what i think of the democrats because of that. and “zero” is the amt. of tolerance i have with obamanation.
but hey, shouldn’t the kool-aid company put barry’s little hopey-changey logos in their ads, too?? that would make more sense. ya know, like in the two “o” ‘s in “kool-aid”?? that’s really his drink of choice.

  11. Back Bay Style said,

It’s ok if you say it Princess. Coming from you, everything’s classy. I just don’t think men ( or waiters, salespeople, etc) should say it and I’ve been hearing it a lot lately. A lot of people took offense at “ladies” back in the 70′s so they stopped using that, but these days, I think we could use a little more respect for ladies from the gentlemen.

I certainly don’t want to go back to the fifties and sixties where women all had to be harnessed into girdles, stockings, skirts, hats and gloves to go downtown or to church, but informality does seem to have given way to slobbiness in this country.

The sign postings are great. I must admit to a horrid coca cola addiction..it’s my worst vice, I think, so Pepsi sure won’t be seeing any cash from me.

  16. on February 28th, 2009 at 4:40 pm

i dont know about you gals but i never did like pepsi anyways . im an RC man myself. but sweet teas the way to go if you ask me.

  17. Back Bay Style said,

Really scary. Talk about subliminal mind control. Why do you think they’ll never show up here, Princess. Is it because they already have everone here converted to the new religion?

Cindy, driving is MA is even worse than you’ve heard. We have plenty of road rage to go around from the world’s worst drivers. I’m too busy fighting for my life every time I turn on the ignition to notice billboards..although if I saw one of those, I’d think I was hallucinating.

And yes, Princess, kooaid is still abundent. I’ve reached a detente with my friends. We just don’t talk about O anymore. Some people still think he can do no wrong, and the others are suspiciously silent, but of course, being a well-bred heel, I’m too polite to gloat!

backbaystyle….You are the ‘Katherine Hepburn’ of the blogosphere….a total class act!!

backbay—i accidentally drove on the masspike a few summers ago, and am still recovering! yikes! i’ve never been that scared.
but, you have a gorgeous state. we especially enjoyed the stockbridge area….would love to go back and stay at the red lion inn, if it’s still there.
so glad to hear the billboards haven’t ruined the scenery up there. that would be criminal!

  19. on February 28th, 2009 at 4:59 pm

hmmmm now that its looks like pepsi is obama-nations drink of choice do you think if that an obama, nit might think 7-up( the un-cola ) was racist?

  20. Back Bay Style said,

I’m with you boogie, always disliked pepsi. its got too much vanilla in it.
And Cindy, yes the inn will probably be there forever, and it is a beautiiful area, so glad you enjoyed it. I will try the coke zero.

boogie–remember us having a discussion about this some months ago? that pepsi commercial on tv (mostly text) but *that* logo and even the word *change!* would they? could they? i guess they did. it’s all too incredible.

i am prickly-sensitive, too–to sexism these days. i constantly notice charlie rose has mostly male guests (even emailed him 2 mos ago–no reply.) and the same of bill moyers journal. what the heck is going on?

c-pac was just held in dc and get this. they were selling anti-hillary buttons! what? how about anti-obama!! hard to figure, that one. i am reading hillary’s “living history” just now and loving it.

SSS, that is awful – about anti-hillary buttons…do u know who was behind that?????

  23. on February 28th, 2009 at 7:56 pm

GOOD POINT why did they go after hillary instead of o. i mean WHY Not go after the head of the dem party …hmmmm maybe they see hillary as the bigger threat in 2012 ?

    now

      that’s

    an excellent point boogie!

  24. on February 28th, 2009 at 8:28 pm

cpac thinks Romney the winner of a poll for best 2012 GOP presidential candidate.hmmmmmm lets see if its hillay vs Romney in the ge . i say she spanks him turns him over & makes him says who your daddy now. opps i guess i think case she,d be saying whos your moma now then sends him home with his tail between his legs

    FYI NY Hireheelers:

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has become a Co-sponsor of the “Paycheck Fairness Act” Passage of this bill is essential to ensuring women’s economic security during these uncertain times.

The Paycheck Fairness Act will deter wage discrimination by closing loopholes in the law, and will bar retaliation against workers who disclose their wages. The bill also allows women to receive the same remedies in court for pay discrimination as those subjected to discrimination based on race or national origin. In addition, the Paycheck Fairness Act would authorize the establishment of a grant program to teach women and girls how to acquire better jobs and earn what they’re worth. The bill also strengthens guidelines on the collection and publication of wage discrimination information and research.

Guaranteeing that women receive equal pay for equal work will help stimulate the economy and ensure self-sufficiency for women and their families. In light of the economic crisis facing our nation, it is more important than ever to close the wage gap and ensure that victims of wage discrimination have access to fair reparations.

princess, here’s the actual line referring to hill-bashing:

    – didn’t see much anti-obama stuff, but the usual supply of anti-hillary clinton buttons and bumper stickers was easy to find.

and here’s the link to the npr article:

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/politicaljunkie/2009/02/fear_and_loathing_and_buttons.html

and boogie–you’re too funny. i think the girls already left for the party before you started asking! you’re so sweet–everybody here loves you.

Thanks SSS – we will check out this article…i saw the Team Sarah was there at cpac – but don’t think they would do that….btw, BM is our other resident sugardaddy, 2nd only to our resident boy-toy and mascot – heelboy!

Talking abt that basketball-playing president dude! Is that supposed to make me feel good as he seems to have everything sooo under control that he can go hanging out with the brothers?? Sorry – but nobody can be that stupid to honestly believe that!

The world is falling apart, the dude is in a new job and he is enjoying himself. Can somebody pls inform him that this is the real thing and he is actually supposed to work his a** off for a change. As much as I dislike Britain’s PM Gordon Brown you have to give it to the man – he looks seriously stressed. As somebody said recently, he looks like he is permanently going to a funeral! well, i think we all watched during the bush years every single gov’t agency be blown up & destroyed. if npr didn’t cover it, frontline did. i almost stopped my car & cried one day to hear about the epa libraries. they took millions of boxes of files and moved them to places no one could easily find and use them. places like cafeteria storerooms. next they would slash the budget so deep it would force out many good scientists. who will fix all this as our next president? i asked. and who will restore presidential powers to the level they used to be? i thought–hillary. she loves this country and respects its people and its constitution. well, welcome to the o-zone. and as he respects no one other than his own graven image, why not a little pick up game every now and then? everything’s cool, right? this is more like the reagan whitehouse–big parties, high times, frivolity all around. what? there’s 2 wars on, a global crisis and unemployment numbers we haven’t seen in how long? oh–well, i have peeps for that. not to worry. now if you don’t mind i do have that game to get back to…

  42. on March 1st, 2009 at 9:46 pm
