discovered (or invented) enough IRS loop holes to rival a
multi-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme. Madoff’s got nothing on
those two… They should all be under house arrest!

thanks for this story about rahm. there were enough reasons to dislike him before this.
i’ll never forget what he said last summer: that the Hillary women shouldn’t be feared or taken seriously, because we (women) don’t pay attention to national politics…..we’d rather knit.

thanks for the education, scl. had no idea rahm was so wealthy so i went looking. a chicago investment banker 98-02; made 16+ million. also on the board of freddie mac for about a year 00-01. fraught with scandal even then. (piggish to live scott free in dc!) de lauro’s hubby represents gm–or at least did. it will be interesting to see how *she* votes on additional funding for the big 3.

Just checking in. Am beyond words at this latest administration outrage. The average middle income working person will get nothing from this vast stimulus bill except a $13.00 a week tax credit, and the President’s multimillion dollar chief of staff has been getting years of free rent? Keep that splash up there for a looong time, Princess and Sista!
Let’s see, $13 will get maybe, bread, milk, and peanut butter? Maybe some eggs?

So, we are now well into the social order crumbling when men are running “sex for a bed to sleep in” ads, and a website actually thinks this is ok. Oh and the protectionism excuse, “if we don’t run them, the ads will go underground and be more dangerous to women”..don’t think so guys, we can do without that kind of “protection”.

Isn’t this the administration that asked everyone who filled out a job application for every email username they ever used, every blog they ever posted to, etc., etc.? Heaven forbid you actually ventured to have an opinion (fair OR foul), but Rahm’s housing arrangement not only passes the ethics review but the smell test? Meanwhile, the rest of us are lucky to make rent?

fred barnes has hit the nail on its obamaniac head. this bill does nothing for anyone who actually works for a living. it will continue to polarize the country into the very rich and the subsidized. Extending jobless benefits, while a necessary emergency measure, does nothing to address the root problem: we cannot live indefinitely on credit, and we cannot be an all-consumption, no production, nation.
The republicans were wrong to allow rampant derugulation and wrong to continue to chafe at the mere suggestion. On the other side, greenspan has a lot of explaining to do for fueling the absurd housing bubble. If anyone needed further proof that Obama is a stand-in for corporate interests, just look at the “stimulus” package. The basic assumption is to extend government benefits as a stop-gap until people find more jobs. The jobs have left the building. No wonder Obama feels the need to keep in flight.
Oh, and as for the “glib”, and “clever” speeches? What can you expect when they’re penned by a 27 year old?
