Is O’Reilly right AND wrong?

YES!

Maybe that is why his ratings continue to hover in the stratosphere.  Heck, he’s managed to push out Olbermann among untold numbers of 18 Millionistas during cable news’ coveted 8pm slot.

Bill, I continue to watch you, mainly because you were consistent and fair during the on-air witch trials of 2008.  But you haven’t exactly won my heart.  Besides, you favor blonde bombshells and I’m a brunette. ;-)

You may be en vogue now, but your unacceptable ‘witchy’ comment about Helen Thomas – a trailblazer for women – risks relegating you to our Heel of Fame.   I hope the flowers you sent Helen yesterday included a note of apology.  And by the way, unlike Ms. Martin’s group, hireheels DID defend Sarah Palin last year. So come and get us!a co-editors note from Sista:
I was struck by Bill O’s comments just like any other viewer… but was even more troublesome to me personally is Mr. O’Reilly’s inability to recognize that he actually made sexist remarks… Is sexism so pervasive in our society that it goes unnoticed or is even acceptable in common discourse?!? In last night’s program O’Reilly quipped with comedian Denis Miller that his comments weren’t sexist because he (O’Reilly) was merely referring to Ms. Thomas’ voice not her appearance. Mr. O’ calling a woman’s voice witchy, shrill or using any other derogatory adjective IS sexist– just as it would be to comment on any other part of her physical make-up.

And as for Ms. Martin… I realize that she was on air representing a liberal women’s organization… BUT does she and the rest of “women kind” think we will further ourselves as a sex if we “cherry pick” which women should be defended and which women should be left to fend for themselves, when they are subjected to prejudice, stereotyping, and the like?!? It’s time for the “sistas” to take a firm stand for all women—regardless of their race, religion, socio-economic status, education or PARTY AFFILIATION!!!

Good post, princess. I totally agree that it is past time for us all to stick up for and take a firm stand for all women! I have proudly joined sarahpac and will continue to support any woman who takes on this patriarchy.
I think o’reilly was right and wrong. But, sadly, he’s so head-and-shoulders above the democratic party when it comes to women …….and isn’t that pathetic, but true?!
Age-ism and sexism are the only acceptable “isms”, and he managed to affirm both. But…. thank god he called miz martin on her hypocrisy!
on a personal note, it was exhilarating for me when I got out of the abusive relationship with the Democratic party, which i had tolerated since 1968.
I quit them on May 31, 2008, and have never regretted it; in fact, they continue to give me reasons, daily, for feeling fabulous about my decision.
    Women above party. Always!

It would be very easy to get past all the questions of “should we back Caroline?” What about Hillary, now that she has become BO’s mouthpeice?” Should we give Palin a second look over the future?”

What about just being true to the position all people play in regards to fairness and honesty? I think that is a start. Then you end up saying.” Helen Thomas was a trailblazer, but she drank the koolaid, and maturity is no excuse.” Then you say, “Caroline has no reason to even think about a Senate seat. She isn’t even part of the process, unless you consider her back-stabbing of Hillary for Uncle Ted.” You end up saying that Hillary has done so much that there should be some forgiveness, but she is walking real close to the edge of the cliff, and at some point he will push her off. There will come a point when BO’s foreign policy ( if he has one) will absolutely fry the brain, and she will have to go out and sell it for him.

And you get to say, “Palin and I won’t be best friends, probably, but she is a feminist, and she is a strong woman, and I have to beleive she wants a fair shot for all women to advance in life.”

So, yes, Bill was sexist and no, he doesn’t realize it, but it shouldn’t be that hard for any of us to figure out who deserves our support, and it really does transcend gender and race and age.

the young woman on o’reilly needs to learn the work she does is all in vein if she doesn’t embrace all women.

now, about the judd gregg pullout…i’m thinking bill richardson is feeling pretty good about his chances again…whatchu think?

I have to admit I will never forgive the women’s groups for remaining silent during the primary (Hillary) and the election (Sarah). For some reason, the women’s groups think only liberal women are worth standing up for.

I could not disagree more. Even though I may disagree with many, I will stand up against any sexism against any woman.

Cheers to HH for getting into this groove….we need non-partisan support for all women – not just the liberal ones.

Cindy; thanks for putting it into words: I was also in that ‘abusive’ relationship with the Democratic Party. You have really given voice to what I have been feeling. “Democrat” was once part of my identity. Right now I haven’t replaced that with anything, but I will never have respect for the party again, nor can I be an active part of it. No matter what, I still believe in Hillary. I don’t think she is BO’s mouthpiece and I believe that before she becomes philosophically compromised, she will leave the administration. He needs her more than she needs him.

Problem is, warrior princess, many won’t accept her because she’s inflexible about the Right to Life. And that’s ironic because to want any woman to have a fair shot to advance in life, she first has to get out of the womb alive! Which of course, is Gov. Palin’s point.
