hireheels g-spot: graciousness not gloating

Posted on August 28th, 2008 in Manolo Minx by hireheels

Congratulations to Senator Obama on his historic nomination. (What, you didn’t think I’d be that gracious? I may be a PUMA, but my momma taught me decent manners.)

I still have many misgivings about Sen. Obama as a candidate. I have many more misgivings about how my party treated me, and allowed others to treat me, during this campaign season. Many PUMAs will not vote for Sen. Obama, given the way so many women were belittled, dismissed, hated and threatened during the primaries. Women who have toiled long in the trenches for Democratic candidates from dogcatcher to president. Women like me who have lived through a campaign or three, as well as lots of real life, and aren’t easily swayed by the New Shiny. I might have been more willing to ride the unity pony immediately post-nomination had I not heard through the magnificent Heidi Li about the strong-arm tactics used to collect the delegate “votes”. What will I do come November? Not sure yet.

But many other PUMAs and allies are more open to voting Democratic again. Now that he is the Democratic nominee in reality, I’m going to kick in my two cents just in case any Obama fans who are smart enough not to gloat are watching. (Hint: Don’t gloat. Only amateurs gloat. Gloating alienates the voters you need in the fall. Restrain the most ungracious of you and show good sportsmanship. You need the good karma, electorally and otherwise.) If you want to know what might win those dismissed, disrespected Dems back, senator, and rebuild a more vibrant Democratic party, here are a few ideas:

1. Publicly apologize for the sexism that occurred on your watch–then fight it every day. Ever heard the expression, “the buck stops here”? Even if you didn’t do it, or all of it, enough vile misogyny was committed in your name that you should disown it and fight it publicly, vociferously, and consistently from now on. (Too bad you didn’t do it when it actually mattered, but hey, lately I feel like everybody should get another shot at redemption. More on why, later.)

2. Follow Heidi Li’s advice–dump Howard Dean, Donna Brazile and the other big leaders at the DNC, fast. They built up so much bad will that many lifelong Dem women will never come back to the fold. That post I made about dancing with them what brung you? If they’re poisoning your fruit punch, you are officially exempt from following that advice.

3. Do something dramatic, drastic and irrevocable to prove you’re on the side of working families in this country. I know your speeches say you are, but you’ve done enough sucking up to, oh, health insurers and telecoms, for example, that many of us are skeptical. Vote against them, or Blackwater, or the oil companies. Showy won’t work here; it’s gotta have guts, like crossing-the-Rubicon guts. If you’re as good as your supporters say you are, then you have it in you.

I’m big on redemption and second chances right now because there are several people in my life in crisis, all of whom could use a cosmic bonus round. One just got fired illegally. Another is holding up three generations of family while one of them fights a nasty case of cancer; I’m holding her up so she can hold them up. Yet another just had emergency surgery and needs assistance doing all kinds of things.

And that’s just this week.

I’m going to help the people in my life fight their fights. I have my own to fight, as well. If I’m wrong about Sen. Obama, and he turns out to be as good for the country as his supporters believe, well, a truly improved future for my country is a nice trade-off for a little wounded pride. But whether I’m wrong (I hope) or right (I fear) about Senator Obama, it’s clear that far too many pundits and power brokers in America consider women–especially women with life experience–worthy of contempt. If we want a taste of freedom from misogyny, we have to keep going.

IS BILL TRYING TO TELL US WE SHOULDN’T VOTE FOR OBAMA???

Love what you said in #3 about actually doing something — there has been an excess of talk, and dismissive talk at that, during this campaign culminating in the travesty that was the “roll call.” I expect return to my lifeling voting as a Dem again — some time after this election.

    Hi All:

I am so disappointed about the roll call. What is California “passes”? They had 441 delegates.

Well my plan was that if the DNC was a flop, I have changed my party from Democrat to “Independent” and I will
be writing her in in the November election. It’s Hillary or no one
as I do not trust Obama and his ideals, I don’t believe he is a true American and McCain is just more of Bush. As Hillary says no way McCain.

I am disappointed that none of the protesters for Hillary were shown on TV but I expected they would keep you out. Its a shame that so many people spent time off of work, traveled long distances, spent money to get to Denver for 18 million to not even show where they were coming from.

As I said, the only thing we can do now is right Hillary in the Fall.

I am not a troll, but genuinely interested in a dialogue with Hillary supporters. I have incredible respect for Hillary (hard not to), but she was not my candidate: I think both sides of this arguement behaved badly in during the primary season. Yes, Hillary’s camp, too. And you’re naive if you believe that the Clinton campaign didn’t do *everything* in its power to sway delegates when the nomination was in play.

I think the accusations of racism and sexism during the campaign undermine the very real, painful instances of both that happen everyday to people far less insulated than two politicians. But the truth is that the press loves to hate Hillary, and her candidacy was absolutely scrutinized in terms of her gender (she’s too feminine, she’s not feminine enough, she wears pantsuits). It’s also true that a white man with a C average, who did coke, and spent his 40s on the sauce can be President of the United States. But a black or bi-racial man with a C average and a similar background would have a hard time becoming President of his local PTA. And if you don’t believe that Bill Clinton spoke in code designed to set off race alarms during the primary, then you weren’t paying attention.

The truth is both candidate faced double standards. Both candidates had to do what no white male candidate has ever been expected to: disown their gender and race. For a woman candidate, we ask her to show us how she’s more than a woman — or worse not ruled by characteristics unfairly attribute to women (hysteria, anyone?). And we expect black candidates to show that they “transcend” race, that they aren’t affected by the culture they grew up in. Would anyone expect John McCain or Bill Clinton to do either of those things?

    Absolutely not.

So, if you don’t want to support Barack Obama because you disagree with his ideas, policies, and platform. all the more power to you. But if somehow you believe that Hillary is an innocent victim of an anoited candidate, then you’re the one drinking the Kool Aid. And, ironically, you do what Hillary is too strong and tough to do — cast her as a victim.

Hello….I am a BO supporter. I keep hearing in all the PUMA sites about the horrible and sexist treatment you have gone through. I sincerely apologize.
I live in a football town and go to the games to support my husband’s fever….but I always complain to him about the fans….people who garner a sense of self vicariously and act from their lower selves accordingly. It seems to be the American way….I hate it, and think that you have been the target of this attitude.
I thought this was an awful primary campaign season. I didn’t go to the convention so I’m not aware of how bad it got. I hope your apologies and remedies happen at all levels. All I really know is that the last 7 years have brought out an America I’d like to see sedated, and for the first time in what seems like a century, I have hope. Last night I heard Bill speak and I remembered how much we lost in these 7 years. I’d like to do my part to unite us….I’m off now to make a donation to help Hillary pay off her debt, and will be sending out an email to encourage everyone I know to do the same. Again, I apologize to my fellow Democrats who were hurt in this campaign.

the stories of what went on in denver, the coercion, the false show… the moving the roll call OUT of prime time… the whole thing is a scam. and if you listen to HRC at least, she endorsed democrats – not Obama. she was of course brilliant and she threaded that needle like no one else could. They will never again get my vote – and I haven’t voted for a Republican since 1988… not a one. I gave a tiny contribution to McCain today I am so so so disgusted. .. and tbone – if they had a fair vote, if they hadn’t strong-armed delegates and caucus goers, if they had not bought some superdelegate votes, I would feel differently. their behavior to coronate Howard Dean’s handpicked nominee has turned me off from them forever….. maybe in 20 years i will change my mind but I am going on record saying the only democrat I will ever vote for will be named clinton and she will be female… other than that… i am going to roll the dice and go back to my capitalist pig roots.

i don’t consider hillary a victim; she has too much strength and too many resources, although i am sure there are some people who voted against her because a) she was a woman; b) she was the white candidate. the democratic process and the party’s base were the victims in this primary and we have the right to protest that; as american citizens we actually have the obligation to protest that. there is no excuse for the race-baiting o and his surrogates engaged in, nor the misogyny, nor voter fraud and intimidation. that speaks volumes about his lack of character and his inability to unify.

Sebastian, that is a crock from beginning to end. This is not about painting a picture of Hillary Clinton as a victim, we don’t play the victim cards here. This is about the DNC giving Obama delegates he didn’t earn, calling for the early exit of a candidate who had every single right to be in this race because they wanted Obama to win, this is about the blatant sexism in the media criticizing every single thing that woman did, what she wore, how she looked, with a microscope that wasn’t extended to Obama. This is about the millions of Obama supporters who threw out the most vile, insulting, criticisms to Hillary supporters that was so revolting it still makes me sick. We have been called every single thing from dried up vaginas to post menopausal harrigans. And of course, there is the race card. And I both heard and watched the speeches Hillary and Clinton gave that were then twisted to insinuate race baiting, and I didn’t take it that way and neither did half the population that watched. Only those looking for a reason to hate the Clintons concocted the race baiting. We watched as the most qualified candidate, the best prepared candidate get pushed out of this race for no other reason than wanting Obama to become the new face of the Democratic Party. We watched Pelosi, Dean, Brazille, tell us to shut up and sit down, we watched our votes count for nothing, witness the caucus fraud in Texas, Idaho, and Nevada. We are rebelling against the hijacking of a nomination, we are rebelling against the way it was handled, the disenfranchisement now of all the voters that voted for Hillary. Look at the roll call, Hillary took Arkansas by 70%, how many delegates got to represent 70% of the voters? None, in a very orchestrated sham of a roll call vote that was dictated by Obama’s camp, the delegates were all given to Obama. Sorry, if my vote doesn’t count in the Democratic party, I’m quite sure it will count in the Republican party. We are fed up with this sham and mockery, and we are going to register our disgust, our anger and our refusal to take it again in November.

to Brenda…I did see Hillary supporters….with placards saying “Take Back our Country Vote McCain”…..those are the kinds of oxymorons that make your position look hystrionic…sorry, but c’mon….or the gal who went over to the dark side and stood up saying she was moving to McCain because he was “pro-choice”? You know, it’s making you all look like you’re not paying attention…or the gal who said her vote needs “to be courted”…..America is hardball with a capital H….Hillary and Bill know this that’s why they’re working inside the game….they know that to make change you have to be in the power structure…to me a vote for Obama is a vote to give them power to make the changes that matter to you. Please go to the voting booth in November….for your fellow middle class sufferers….this is no time for a moral victory.

PS: Sebastian, that was a really good play on Nancy Pelosi’s victimhood speech. Was that by any chance the Obama talking points of the day? You won’t make any friends here on this site by trying to insinuate the victim card. when they pulled the race card that really alienated us, but insinuating the victim card will really anger us.

the truth of the matter is that a vote for obama is in many ways a vote for four more years of the same crap. George Bush actually has more of a backbone that BHO – who can’t make a decision that he can stick to on anything… he changes his mind all the time because his underlying desire is for everyone to just get along. He doesn’t know how to say no … and that is the most dangerous president of all.

Well I for one am not voting for BHO because he is not prepared for the job. It is after all not a position that lends itself to on the job training. He said himself that he wasn’t ready for the job, he doesn’t need me to point it out. As his gal pal Oprah says ” when someone tells you who they are, believe them” well I thing those are wise words and I concur. BHO told me he wasn’t qualified and I’m going to go with him on that. Why don’t we all vote for Cynthia McKinney? What the heck at least they might stop calling us racists. Although the male establishment of all colors has always been more sexist than racist so I’m sure she would be the target of the same viciousness that the rest of us feel daily. So anyhoo sebastian, nice try, i figured the BHO fans(short for fanatic btw) would be sniffing around trying to make up, but too little too late. I’m sorry, but if Obama was so very certain this was his, why didn’t he allow a real roll call? The DNC has a lot to answer for, millions of votes became nothing to the Democratic party. On November 4, remeber that democracy died in the democratic party on August 27, 2008.

Any PUMAs going to St. Paul – google “Sally Pillsbury” and “Sept. 2″ for full article about this — a place for PUMAs next week.

. . . . .But this gathering has a purpose that goes way beyond the amusement of the well-heeled or the diversion of the delegates. It’s a fundraiser for a pair of organizations populated with old-line GOP social moderates — people who’ve been marginalized during the Bush-Cheney-Rove years, but maybe, just maybe, are on the verge of reemergence.

It’s a serious bid for funds. The price of admission starts at $250.

That’s because leaders of the two sister organizations (Sally and husband George among them) are serious in their belief that a moment of opportunity has dawned for their kind of Republicans. As the Bush era ends, the GOP’s course is changing, and they think that if their organizations push, the party — and the nation — can change in their direction.
Sally Pillsbury’s pitch: “As our party has been taken over by conservatives, it has been losing votes — Republican votes. The people the party is losing are still Republicans. They still believe in the basic tenets of the party: small government, personal freedom and individual responsibility.”

She may have been describing herself. Pillsbury’s preference for Democrat John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race — despite her family’s long personal and political association with the Bush family — was no secret. She was at odds with the president, who had once been a guest at her home, over social issues at the core of the Republican Majority for Choice, and more — wanton federal spending, a costly war producing too few gains.

I am truly sorry to hear what is happening in your personal life. I wish there were something I could do to help you. Having been there, I understand, and while I am sure you have a healthy support system, if there is anything any of us can do, please ask.

I also understand how a lot of people feel down after Denver, but I never thought you could move that particular mountain. What you could do was to make them acknowledge that there is a line, and they crossed it, and now there will be consequences. That you did in fantastic manner. I couldn’t believe all the converage, good, positive coverage you got for PUMA. You moved the thought process away from “disaffected, older white woman” to “intelligent, articulate, dedicated american voter”. I am proud and grateful to all of you for you work.

As to congratulations, no, it was never just about Hillary winning for me, there was the lying, the thuggery, the cheating, the manipulation, the insults, and the arrogance to parade it all in front of us and say,”so what”.

Mostly, for me being a PUMa was about the insult of my party pushing a candidate down my throat with no experience, no acheivements, associations that defy belief, and the propensity to fall back on the race card at every opportunity.

No, no congrats, no second chance,. this is the time to convince as many people as possible not to let him get away with anymore. And, after Nov.? That is the time to start moving to form something different from the party system we have grown to hate. There are great minds, and wonderful energy on the PUMA sites, start making notes, start talking, lets do something good, and lasting, and necessary. It is time, and we are the ones to begin this work.

I apologize for the length, but I hope you will read it, all you wonderful HireHeel women, you are an asset we can’t do without.

I just wanted to mention that there is a movement, now that the convention is over to pull as many people from the Dem. party as possible to Independent, and let them have visible proof of the consequences of their actions.

It is an easy thing to do, primaries are over in local races. I would encourage others to do this, and send the kind of message that Dean and Pelosi and Reid don’t want to hear. Donna Brazile said they don’t need us and are better off without us. Let’s just test that.

There will be no changing from the inside for the time being, So, lets show them another taste of PUMA power.

    Goodnight all.

As I listen to the praises of Senator Obama this week (did any one count the number of times people said “Barack Obama”) a question formed that I haven’t heard answered. “If Obama was not prepared to be the candidate before the convention, what has changed that makes him prepared now?”

In my mind, Hillary is the most qualified, I will be voting for her. If the DNC can’t nominate someone who will win in November, they are responsible for the loss.

As for the strong arming, it is politics and I can tell you I have been around since Eisenhower and all of them play these dirty games. The Clintons, as good as they are, have done some major strong arming and dealing to get where they got. Barack is no different. You can’t win an election in this country right now unless you play the game. Maybe, if someone gets in there to change that, it will change but you have to be in power to make changes and right now the only way to win is to play. Hillary played big time and she lost. I love her too but she lost and she accepted it and is now going to work for the betterment of the country by electing the Dem. If we don’t take back this country this time it will be too late.

If you think McCain is a good man and cares about women, please do some serious research. Find out how much he doesn’t care. Explore what he has done in his .life to the women in his life. Listen to his sick jokes like the one about the gorilla raping the woman and how much she enjoyed it. Please be sure you know who you are voting for. I’d rather stay home than vote for McCain but I like so many of us who wanted Hillary are going to support a change and vote Obama. Is he perfect? No. But he sure beats 4 more years of a Republican administration that has dirtied our reputation and wasted our young people’s lives on a war that never should have happened. McCain is a hawk. He is not a good man.

ilene – there is an old saying… “the devil you know is better than the one you don’t” …. and that is our choice. we know what mccain is and we definitely don’t really know what BHO is – except for what we have to go on, which is very very bad.

I will someone would just start playing a commerical of the interview he had on one of his first days in the Senate when he said “if I were to run for President, i would have to start now, … he himself said he wasn’t qualified” …. if someone would just whip that into a good commercial and let it rip for the next 9 weeks…

He is dangerous, dangerously unprepared to be president…. and NOTHING is worse than that. nothing….

yes, ilene, politics is politics. we’re clued into that already. puma is a signal that we want more integrity from politicians since we are paying they’re salaries; that o’s supporters engaged in disturbingly grubby and underhanded behavior; that this candidate is unqualified to lead. i am cynical enough to believe that these people found a way to extract money even from little old AA ladies who worked at menial jobs throughout their lives and were treated to false “hope” by the dems. what a travesty.

both mccain and obama have exhibited contempt for women, but obama claims to be more modern and in-touch. actually, he exhibits the mentality of the average bros before hos rapper. how charming. mccain pays his female staff equitably; obama does not. as far as character and stature, o is hopelessly behind mccain.

country before party; character before celebrity.

Good morning, everyone. Welcome Home, Princess, Sista and Piper. Happy you have all returned safely. So many heartfelt comments to read this AM. I am leery of second chances because of the age old adage ….leopards don’t change their spots….

The selection of Senator Obama by Kennedy and Daschle was devised specifically to prevent another Clinton Administration and to give us an alternative to Senator Clinton. Once Kennedy placed his stamp all over Obama, the rest of the sheep in the party followed. Daschle co-chaired O’s campaign, and Kennedy lent O his family identity. Kennedy even contacted the original speech writer of JFK – thus the comparisons in Obama’s oratory skills and catchy phrases. Because the party made this decision, it backed the candidate coming in second. The party will continue to rely on our dedication and loyalty, that we also “fall in line” while they spew fear mongering to the tune of “another four years of Bush”. The party has deliberately and with premeditation, prevented Senator Clinton from entering the White House. These actions are undemocratic, setting a dangerous precedence for the future. The perpetrators of the violations against our democracy and toward Senator Clinton must be exposed and held accountable, regardless of who wins the White House in 2008. Those in the DNC who knowingly went along with this plan and “fell in line” are equally as guilty, and they also must be exposed and held accountable.

I don’t like being manipulated by the media. They made this a racial and gender campaign. The whole thing was orchestrated, no one was honest, people were paid off, obama has $299,000,00000 after the primary and no one asks where he got the money from. To his ideals, everything scares me but the media planned this whole thing. We are between a rock and hard place. We don’t want obama because I don’t believe he can be trusted, I don’t believe he is for america and McCain is the same as Bush who has ruined this country. Yes if we vote independent it will be a moral vote and wasted but at least we can say we have morals, that’s more than what we can say for the DNC and CNN but it still doesn’t get us anywhere. They got rid of Hillary because they knew she would beat McCain and that’s how we got in this mess. We could take a chance with obama, atleast he is running as a democrat. Anyway you look at it, we are screwed.

    What to Do Now!
It suddenly occurred to me if we all vote independent 18 million is about 10% of the vote I believe and vote for Hillary maybe they can’t manipulate that. It is my understanding that either nominee has to have 50% of the vote to be nominated as the President of the United States. Our 10% taken away would be 45% obama and 45% mccain. We have the other 10% they need. We have the power, the only thing is we all have to vote independent for Hillary. Then see what they will do about that.

Its a psychological mind thing a choice of a woman for VP
That’s what this whole primary and Denver convention has been all along. Obama didn’t choose Hillary for VP but McCain did therefore he must be the one we should vote for.

I officially resign from this site. I fully supported Hillary Clinton. I was brokenhearted that she lost. But, she reminded me that I believed in her cause. I supported her because of her position on issues. Obama may not be my perfect candidate, but he’s sooooo much better than McCain. Picking a woman VP with so little experience and competence was actually insulting. And, I could never vote for a ticket so opposed to women’s rights – equal pay for equal work, reproductive choice control, gun control, and boosting minimum wage. This country is really in trouble. Not since the 1920′s has wealth distribution been so wrong. I’m tired of noblesse oblige charity by the top 1% of this country while the middle class goes without health care. My son HAS to join the ROTC to go to college. Not necessarily a bad thing, my point is he has NO CHOICE because I can’t send him to college and he’s not willing to take such onerous loans to get there on his own. This country needs help. Hillary would have delivered. So will Obama. I’m starting to think that PUMA’s who can’t take the loss and move forward on their issues are really Republican plants. Our time will come. We will have a woman in the White House one day – a QUALIFIED woman – maybe even Hillary. What we will NOT have is John McCain. I don’t care how many women he puts on his ticket because his policies suck and his choice in VP was WRONG!!!

I meant electoral votes need to be 50% Here’s a web page of how past president’s results turned out. Just press the arrow on the right of the american flag. You can see that some are 1/10th% apart very very close.

I am so frustrated because I feel that our country is in big trouble. We are borrowing money from China, they own half of wall street, we have to worry about terrorism.
I wish we could go back to a more simpler time.

Because we are the richest country in the world we are hated, envied, etc. where other countries live in utter poverty and babies are dying of starvation. We are all human beings. It is shame we could not all be on the same level
and we were not fighting each other. Peace on earth and good will to all men. Perhaps a global economy and global government would be a good thing. We seem to be moving in that direction.

Pat cakes, well put. None of the people who move from Hillary to McCain are looking at the issues… they were extremely excited about the possibility of a woman president, more emotionally involved than ever before, and so they noticed the hardball being played because it was against their girl, but barely acknowledged that she herself played it as hard as anybody else, and she really does have more dirt than he does.
Now that she lost, they’re willing to blind themselves to the fact that they are going to damage their cause as much as Hillary winning the election would have helped.
McCain won’t overturn Roe? You’re kidding yourselves, he said he would.
I think it’s just as likely that there are puppetmasters behind the scenes controlling it all no matter who gets in… but the people voting for McCain have lost touch with reality.

This is a very negative site…. they’d be better off with a candidate that at least had to listen to women’s issues, and unifying as a group to make sure that good female candidates were groomed for leadership.. and that there was real discussion of the differences between men and women both real and imposed and the disparities in pay and promotion.

Be careful what you wish for hire for heels.. get it and you may be sorry.

you would have to be a moron to screw it up. she has only been govenor of a state with only 600,000 people for two years.

she offered a minor and tepid rebuke of the supreme court exxon decision which allowed exxon to pay a small amount of what was awarded alaskan fisherman whose livelihood was destroyed by the exxon valdez disaster over 19 years ago and is still on record as being one of the worst environmental disasters in the world. alaskans were outraged about this decision and sarah was “dissapointed”. exxon battled this litigation out for 19 years and she dissapointed.

    Hi there,
I’m a Barack supporter but I’m a democrat first. Barack and Hillary’s platforms seemed almost identical to me but I just loved his speeches, so I fell into his camp. I love Hillary too, and have tremendous respect for her, and would have gladly cast my November ballot for her if things had played out differently.

I’m writing to apologize, and tell you that I think I understand to some degree how you feel. Recently I had a long dispute with my brother, who really treated me poorly and with disrespect, and I saw and understood that the same happened to Hillary and her supporters both by the media and by some of Obama’s supporters. I’m ashamed for my country and especially ashamed for those fellow supporters of mine who dropped their class, their dignity and their ethics in order to try and get what they wanted. When dealing with my brother I saw first hand how hard it is to capitulate, to take any action that could be seen as giving in, as agreeing, as in any way tacitly implying that it was OK to be treated the way you were.

Whatever decision you make this November, I want you to know that there are many of us in the Obama camp who understand how you feel, and are deeply sorry and ashamed of the way you were treated and the way things occured. There are many of us who recognize and see the validity of your points and your frustration, and agree that the DNC must be cleaned up and restructured too. I personally believe in my heart that Barack will do some good for this country, so that’s where my vote is headed. If I get any chance to vote for Hillary in the future, I’ll be first in line for that too.

I’m not here to try and tell you what to do, so whatever you choose, again, I’m sorry.

From what i’ve seen during this primary, the dems have trashed women (bros before hos), their own base (Brazile). Carter trashed Mccain for ‘milking’ his POW ordeal. the money pit that is obama is entirely wasteful and egocentric. the major mouthpieces for the dems are reprehensible. policies are nothing more than afterthoughts and talking points for these people and voters discounted, disenfranchised and bilked.

When the objection of lack of experience was addressed regarding Senator Obama, Rep. Pelosi and several surrogates of Obama stated emphatically that inexperience is a strength and a good thing. Now suddenly experience becomes a factor? I found it quite telling when a pundit on Wednesday evening, asked Governor Dukakis over and over to list Senator Obama’s accomplishments, and Governor Dukakis could not. Also, 2 years as a full charge governor with executive responsibilities, over-rides Obama’s experience in the Illinois legislature. Since Senator Obama has spent all but 143 days running for President, I would have to concur that Governor Palin is more qualified. Obviously, the choice of a female running mate has sent shock waves through the Democratic party. Although Obama with advice from the party elders could have embraced Senator Clinton, a qualified female candidate as his running mate, he did not. The Republicans have selected a qualified female candidate as the first VP nominee since Geraldine Ferraro. Check mate.

Wouldn’t you think that the dems would have seen this coming though.? Isn’t this strategic planning? Now I am far from being a military strategist, so these are just questions. In battle, do not the most successful commanders have a special skill of anticipating the next move or moves of the enemy, and then develop a plan to counteract their next move. Major battles have been won by anticipating or psyching out the enemy. The fact that Obama and the party elders did not see this coming, when in reality it was as plain a possibility as the nose on their faces does not speak well to Obama’s commander in chief credentials.

As Commander in Chief, the president needs to anticipate the moves of our enemies and develop a plan of defense. If Obama could not anticipate this surprise development from the Republicans, particularly since he has all this “Help” around him, will he also miss a surprise attack by our enemies. On the other hand, here is McCain and the Republicans. I’ve posted more than once, they are unusually very, very, quiet. Isn’t this also a characteristic of a successful commander? The ability to keep his cards to himself, not let out any secrets and pull a surprise attack. Unlike Obama, the press figured out who the VP pick was before Obama intended to release it. McCain confused everyone by asking the final picks to Ohio, and totally threw the press off kilter. I would have to guess that Senator McCain is very involved in his campaign strategy. His moves are mirroring a warrior.

i did two interviews on camera today — the dem strategists are throwing the roe v wade issue at me… that is all they’ve got it seems….

if barack obama is so concerned about hillary voters, conventional wisdom would dictate that he choose hillary…

no one understands his choice — joe biden — a 6-term senator who voted for the iraq war…. how does that represent a new kind of politcis…it doesn’t…but, mccain went out of the box by selecting a woman — regardless of her conservative views, it was a bold choice..and one made to court women…

    brilliant!

the gop have outmaneuvered the dems again…

no one should be shocked …. this was the the dems to lose and doing a fine job of it all on their own…all we did was expose the blatant corruption in the party…

    may the best ticket win!

According to this post at Riverdaughter hitting us over the head with Roe vs Wade was the plan all along – at least Chuck Todd knows so:
Vickie, on June 21st, 2008 at 10:47 am Said:
The SCOTUS, Roe v. Wade and women’s issues was the BO campaigns “ace in the hole” according to Chuck Todd from MSNBO network. The BO spokesperson told Todd that they would use any means necessary to beat Hillary and if women were offended, they would come back to the party during the GE because their plan was to “play the Roe v. Wade card.” THAT is a direct quote from the BO campaign via Todd.

Hey, Barry – - I Wouldn’t Call That Woman “Sweetie,” If I Were You
    Posted by jay1949 on August 29, 2008

By its vicious, visceral reaction to Sarah Palin, the Obama campaign erased any lingering doubts about whether it used sexist attitudes to defeat Hillary Clinton. The attacks on Palin – - like those on Clinton – - are designed to create the impression that this person cannot be trusted with this responsibility. Clearly, however, the only basis to differentiate is that Palin and Clinton are women.

Sexist remark, yes or no: “Sarah Palin has a 4-month-old baby at home; she won’t have time for the job.” Now, some of you guys may have missed that one, but I’ll bet the women who heard that got it without missing a beat. Translation: “She can’t handle this job; she’s a woman.” The answer is “yes,” sexist remark. No one suggests that Barack Obama shouldn’t be running for President because he has two young children to raise.

Now, I realize that Obama himself didn’t say this, and to his credit he promptly disowned it, but a person Obama pays to speak on his behalf said this, according to FOX News and numerous other outlets:

“Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency,” spokesman Bill Burton said.

Grok that statement for a minute. Savor it. It is, to begin with, a tacit admission that the McCain-Palin ticket has the better chance to win. But also, it makes an obvious comparison between Palin and Obama:

    - – Palin has only a few years of experience. Of course, the same can be said for Barack Obama, who has less time than Palin as any kind of executive officer.

    - – Palin has no foreign policy experience. Of course, neither does Barack Obama. If you’re counting trips to Iraq, they’re even.

So why is it that Palin, in her mid-forties, is not qualified to be Vice-president, but Obama, in his mid-forties and with no more relevant experience than Palin, is qualified to be President? Why would we be worried to have Palin a heartbeat away from the Presidency, but confident that Obama can handle the Presidency itself? What does Obama have that Palin lacks?

    A penis, of course.

A word of advice for Barack: I wouldn’t call that woman “Sweetie,” if I were you.

Just a couple of notes from an old Dem,. First, off the topic just a little, have any of you noticed (from the start) that BO always tries to have the camera angle from below his face? So, viewers are always looking up at him? Or he is always looking down at us. Just an interesting point.

    As for Palin…what this means,
    1. McCain listened to Carly Fiorina and others about the stratigic merits of considering women as Vp, or he simply had no problem with it in the first place, on his own.

    2. McCain asked Palin if she was up to handling this position, she told him yes, and he took her word for it.

    3. For the very first time, BO was forced to apologize for his campaign, first time, first time, That it was to try to mend fences with women voters just makes it that much sweeter.

4.BO never saw this coming( bad campaign strategy) or,he, once again, just didn’t give a d—. He wasn’t having a woman on his ticket, and that is that. We can go pound salt as far as he is concerned.

There are other points, but those were the ones on my mind all afternoon at work.

Will I vote for McCain-Palin? You bet. This is Bill Clinton’s candidate X and candidate Y. I am not the least bit worried about Roe v Wade. Changing judges on the Supreme Court requires getting them through congress and the senate. Not very likely. I am not worried about equal pay. McCain said he supports equal pay for women, but not the Lilly Ledbetter Act, because that bill would leave the door for litigation open for too long and inundate the courts. I happen to agree. Neither McCain or Palin support gay marriage, neither do Biden or Obama, and, actually, on the record, neither did Hillary. However, anyone remember McCain coming out against the “Defense of Marriage Act”? Well, I do. Also, Palin supports rights for domestic partners, which is as far as that issue is going to get for some time to come. I was involved in passing one of the first pieces of gay rights legislation in the nation, so, I do know the score on this one.

What I am saying is that BO is still what he was at the beginning, a mysoginistic, racist, lying, cheating, fraudulent, arrogent manipulator. You want to bvote for that? Have at it, but don’t pretend that its because of his positions or that he shares Hillary’s positions. The only time he takes a position is when it furthers he own cause, and the only time he has shared Hillary’s positions was when he needed one, and stole hers. Sometimes to the word.

Real quick now because its getting late and I’m tired. Think back to that speech he gave in 2002. You know the one that showed his good judgement and all? Having gotten to know him better by now, has it crossed your minds that maybe it wasn’t a deeply held belief after all? Maybe, just maybe, it had more to do with who was footing the bill for his political aspirations at the time, say Bill Ayers? Nothing else he has done has led back to some deep soulful intensity. Why would that?

He is the ultimate Chicago scammer, and a lot of people have fallen for it.

Like I said before, I won’t jump for joy to put McCain in, but I will breathe a sigh of relief. Oh yeah, and now, I will smile.

I’m truly conflicted. I like that Palin person. she seems smart, charismatic, well-spoken, pretty and sassy. she looks like a hard worker.

but the fact that mccain picked her, and inevitably, if he wins, he’ll be the one in charge, and she’ll just be in the back burner.

the part that bothered me was, once mccain announced her as vp, she went right at it and assumed she’d get clinton supporter votes because she’s a woman. so is this the carrot mccain is dangling in front of us? I wish we can just drop mccain altogether and keep her.

    quotes from mccain-

“I didn’t decide to run for President to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. I was sixty-two years old when I made the decision and I thought it was my one shot at the prize.” Sen. John McCain

“I disagree with what the majority of the American people want.” – Sen. John McCain

I’m not crazy about mccain. first he pimps is POW card to no ends. now, he’s pimping palin for clinton supporter votes.

    what are your thoughts?

That is exactly what John McCain is doing, pimping her to get Y-O-U-R votes.
I like her, for the most part. But, I listened to the chief of police she fired for not firing her ex-brother in law, who seems like a bit of a jerk, on some good old boy country bumpkin stuff. He’s clearly a good man, and good at his job and stood up for the law even with the Governor herself making phone calls to him.
That’s clearly going to blow up in their faces.
Obama is a racist, now? Give me a break.
This is why Clinton should have folded tents earlier, when the math didn’t work and her people were admitting it… people getting caught up in a good vs. evil mentality in the [primaries?] about two similar candidates.

You guys keep saying you are being ignored… then I think you are not listening to the whole convention…Hillary was talking to you, Bill was talking to you, Barack was talking to you, and every one in between was emphasizing equal pay for equal work and women’s issues.
Your voices -are- being heard… and of course, you made a big point that even though she lost the primary, the VP job still wouldn’t bring you back to the ticket, throwing away the political capital you had for your girl by asking too much, asking someone to throw away a hard fought victory just to ease your pain.

This has been an emotional response from being too invested in the primary, and seizing on the sexism that, yes was there, just as the racism was, and calling it reason to change your stripes.

I knew it when Diane invited me to a party and uninvited me because I was an “Obama” supporter. Wrong. I am an America supporter, and will take the candidate whose campaign promises most closely resemble what needs to be done, get them elected and keep shouting what needs to be done at the top of my lungs until they do it.
There’s a chance Miami and Manhattan could be under water in this century.
The richest nation in the world is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy and financial collapse while we borrow money to pay for guns to fight people in countries that did nothing to us, for oil, a back asswards way of getting energy.

And you all are still complaining about what happened in the primary.
Is that how you got where you are in your careers, by throwing away the game every time a woman in your organization narrowly lost a fight for a top job?

I always thought women were more about the greater good than themselves, more about seeing the big picture, and incremental gains towards the larger goal.

If Obama wins, and doesn’t do what he is supposed to by next year at this time, call me, I’ll be hard at work on a new American Revolution. But at least you will be able to say you tried to move us in the right direction.
McCain wins barely, and we go over the edge, and things get worse, you will know what remorse is, and know you had a hand in it, something that will haunt you till the end of your days. Especially those with their faces on the television, rallying the anti-Obama forces.

Not making decisions is still making a decision.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

If BO/DNC would have choosen Hillary for the vp, I may have considered voting for him with some objection. This didn’t happen as we all know, despite of our persistent to join the luvfest. Needless to say we were not invited and we showed up anyway at the convention, broken legg and all, door slam in our faces.

Pumapac and these ladies have tried countless of times to remind you guys (Obama and the DNC) that they were not happy with with the divisive approach and the lack of respect that hillary and her supporter received during the primary and at the convention…. blah,,,blah …blah…and you guys choose and shunted them anyway. Calling them delusional, lewd remarks, abusive behavior such threatening and even told them “we don’t need you”.

Now that the old man has shown just how shrewd he really is in his judgement. You guys have stop the gloating and beg for forgiveness in your behavior and lack of judgement? I have seen better behavior and moral values from animals. You guys are disgusting! You guys need to sleep in your bed that you made and we may find forgiveness in the future.

I will say this to the editors and to those who are still undecided on this site. I do respect your choosing and it’s yours alone to decide how you will cast that vote comes November. However, if you decide to cross that line, I hope you know that many of us who were loyal to hillary and consider you as friend, will be waiting for you in the other side, which atleast you should know that you will be in good company.

Is BO a racist? Yes, and now that McCain has thrown that one in his face, he doesn’t have the easy ride to the WH that he was counting on, so he is back trying to dissuade us from going elsewhere.

Has anyone else noticed the huge upsurge in OBOTS since the convention? And…a lot of them are identifying as female, whether they really are or not.

Again, if one candidate seems to have all the right stands, but when his lips are moving, he is lying, and the other candidate is only 50% in your court, but you have reason to beleive he will deliver, is the choice really that hard?

A note, I work with the local wildlife rehabber, I do parrot rescue, and have five rescued parrots vying for my attention right now. Belong to National Wildlife, The Conservancy, Audubon, et al, but I have looked at the real picture of drilling at ANWAR and am leaning that way. John McCain has always, and still is against it.

I can see the Gulf of Mexico from the front of my house, and have always opposed drilling here, but it may be time. The devil will be in the details.

Do you think I want to leave those details to ‘Obama? Not in your wildest dreams. I would have trusted Hillary with all these decisions, though I was a little concerned about the move to wind. The turbines have a habit of chewing up migratory birds on the flyways, they haven’t solved that problem yet. I lived in N.C. for ten years, and SOME, not all, of the best conservationists I knew were the commmercial fishermen, and crabbers, because they wanted something to hand down to their children.

What I am saying is that character has the most to do with who you put in a position of power, and, unfortunatley for my lifelong party, that rules them out.

Remember, it wasn’t voters in general that they treated so dispicably…it was their own party. It was us!

Henry: the un-American aspect of the actions of the democrats, was to select their candidate as far back as 2004, and then cheat, lie and steal to put their chosen one in the White House. Their objective, keep Sentator Clinton out and have the priviledge and notation in the history books that the democrats installed the first Black President.

I don’t and will not vote for a candidate who has participated in this. And I really don’t think you care anything about women’s rights. You care about one thing and one thing only, electing Barack Obama. Obviously the selection of McCain’s VP pick has sent shock waves throughout the democratic party. O: Exactly my point. McCain is putting Palin a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

MD: You seem to be assuming that the McCain-Palin ticket will win.

O: Oh, no. McCain is trying to throw the election.

    MD: You must be joking.

O: No. It’s just sooooooooo obvious that he’s pandering to women.

MD: You don’t think Sarah Palin has qualifications and background in her own right?

O: Of course not. She’s a woman. How could she?

MD: I think you’re getting a bit sexist, pal.

O: If you’re not voting for Barack, you’re a racist.

MD: Well, I’m not voting for Barack, but it’s because of his positions on the issues, not his race.

O: Exactly my point. That’s what all the racists say.

MD: So I’m a bigot if I vote for the ticket with a woman?

O: Running a woman on the Republican ticket is just pandering.

MD: We seem to be going around in circles. So Obama’s speech on Thursday night wasn’t pandering?

O: Republicans are panderers. Democrats are public-spirited citizens.

MD: Seemed like an over-produced dog-and-pony show to me.

O: It only cost six million dollars.

    MD: SIX MILLION DOLLARS?

O: That’s what it takes to show that Obama is a friend of the poor and needy.

    MD: SIX MILLION DOLLARS?

O: And will be a responsible steward of the U. S. Treasury.

    MD: SIX MILLION DOLLARS?

O: You get what you pay for.

    MD: SIX MILLION DOLLARS?

    O: Uh . . . uh . . .

    MD: SIX MILLION DOLLARS????
O: Uh . . . okay . . . so here’s why McCain is stupid: he only met with Palin once or twice before he picked her to be his VP nominee!

MD: But Obama knew “Boring Joe” Biden for years, and he still picked him. Doesn’t that make Obama stupider?

O: It shounds like you’re part of the Republican Attack Machine.

    MD: I’m not a Republican. I’m a Democrat.

O: You can’t be a Democrat and support McCain. That’s racist.

MD: We’re going around in circles again.

    O: That’s what racists do.

MD: So what do you sexists plan to do about Sarah Palin? Just attack her for being no more experienced than Obama?

O: Oh, no, we’re going to dig up dirt on Palin and her friends and family and smear her mercilessly.

MD: And what if there’s no such dirt?

O: Doesn’t matter. We’ll just make something up, like we did when we blamed McCain for that Ayers ad he didn’t make. Heh, heh.

MD: But doesn’t that open up the whole Reverend Wright-Ayers-Rezko problem?

O: Off limits, pal! Stick to talking about the issues!

    MD: Like at Saddleback?

O: McCain must have cheated. That’s the only explanation.

MD: Well, he didn’t cheat – - he didn’t have to – - but aren’t you admitting that character and judgment are legitimate issues?

O: Only when it makes the Republicans look bad.

MD: So we’re going to ignore the fact that the Reverend Wright-Ayers-Rezko problems make Obama look bad?

O: OFF LIMITS! Why can’t you right-wing, pandering racists stick to the ISSUES?

MD: And how about the fact that Obama lied about Wright and Ayers and . . .

O: OFFLIMITSOFFLIMITSOFFLIMITS!!! You’re ignoring the ISSUES!

MD: Okay, so what are the issues?

O: McCain is too old. Palin is too young.

MD: But Palin is pretty close in age to Obama, isn’t she?

O: She’s a failure. She has no experience.

MD: She has as much experience as Barack Obama.

    O: That’s different. He’s not running for Vice-president.

MD: But he’s running for President!

O: Exactly my point. McCain is putting Palin a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

    MD: I’m getting a very strange feeling now . . . like I’m passing into another dimension . . . I think I’ll go now.

WP; how are you? Is everything okay with the storm. Thursday I was doing my on-line research, and read an article on MSNBC. I ventured into the comments section, something I avoid because of the content. The Obama supporters, one after the next were leaving comments that said, they hoped, they wished, wouldn’t it be great, if the Hurricane hit New Orleans during the Republican convention, for the sole purpose of bringing down the Republican convention, as it refers to katrina. It wasn’t just one comment – it was several, and I only checked page one. Can you imagine anything so evil as to wish death and destruction on the people who have suffered the most, merely for the purpose of electing Obama. I had to quit reading the comments; it made me ill.

I want to get this out on as many PUMA blogs as possible…..

I believe our mission is clear and our statement should be as well…

The Democratic Party is SEXIST. THEY chose the inexperienced, unqualified male candidate to represent them. HE chose a white male as his running mate INSTEAD of the ONE person, a Woman, who would guarantee him/dems the whitehouse.

WHY is it that the Republicans can bring in a WOMAN VP, but the Democrats sat back and let all the sexism against Hillary Clinton proceed, have a sham of a roll call AND by-pass her for VP?

    WHICH PARTY IS REALLY SEXIST?

I will happily vote for McCain/Palin and WOMEN especially need to get behind this ticket and say to Obama “NO YOU CAN’T”.

It will be the fastest way for Hillary Clinton to run again in 2012 (vs Sarah Palin).

back to politics, i’m posting my contribution letter to mccain-palin:

enclosed is the pledge of support and voter verification card you mailed to my husband.

although i am a registered democrat who supported senator clinton, i will be changing my registration to independent and supporting the mccain-palin ticket. the disrespectful treatment of senator clinton during the primary, the slander of her supporters, carter’s disrespect of senator mccain’s pow ordeal, and discrimination against governor palin for having a special needs child are just a few of the reprehensible tactics used by democrats this year. there is nothing there worth supporting. nor is senator obama’s waste of millions on self-aggrandizement.

i want to thank senator mccain for choosing governor palin for vp. she brings a refreshing decency, work ethic, and integrity to the political scene.

right now, lack of medical insurance is an issue for me and i hope republicans will consider enacting basic coverage for americans in the same predicament. other than that, i’m becoming more and more enamored with the republican ticket and will pray for your success.

As a lifelong dem who has supported candidates with cash, made phone calls, knocked doors, marched in parades, and staffed booths at events my tenure is now complete-I am officially an independent. I cannot support a party that would abuse it’s own. Staying in an abusive relationship is not healthy and so I am moving on.

    Hello:

If Obama had the same values as Hillary he would have made her his VP he did not. That tells me we are in big trouble. Politicians unfortunately, will say what they think we would like to hear and once they are in they get bogged down with all the DC politics and Obama does not have that experience.

I don’t know if you know that 30% of the banks in America are going belly up. Bin Laden said after 9/11, “I am going to make America broke”. I wrote President Bush and objected that he get involved in the Iraq war and that he was just playing into his hands.

The fall of a great nation is only as strong as its government structure, we have to get our shit together and stop following cnn, brainwashing the public and making this a racial and gender campaign. Our only hope for survival is a strong democratic party. We need to get there attention, and tell them being corrupt, dishonest, taking bribes, is not the way to go, otherwise we are all going to end up in the toilet.

As Princess says, we all need to leave the democratic party and become and “independent” so we get their attention. We could convince others, other than the 18million to also change party affiliates and write Hillary in. I think this is our only chance of survival.

On television, your fearless leader said it didn’t matter whether or not Hillary Clinton was on the bottom of the ticket… that wasn’t good enough, despite the fact that she lost the primary election.
Hillary Clinton was an attack dog during the primary season, and said it herself, “hey, this is politics, and this is what the Republicans do anyway.” Then she offers him a VP slot while he’s ahead. I wouldn’t have been too inclined to invite her on to my team either.
It’s ironic, and somewhat hypocritical that you talk about unfair treatment from the party in the same breath as you call me an o-bot.
Drilling in ANWAr is ridiculous… as is gulf coast drilling… it took us five years to develop atomic energy from a concept to bomb… a total of 24 Billion in today’s money for the Manhattan Project. You tellin me we couldn’t develop solar, wind and geothermal in that time?
We absolutely could… we need the commitment at a national level to move us out of the past, and into the future.

With the money we spend in Iraq, not only could we develop it, but we could develop the infrastructure as well.
$700 billion a year goes out of this country to foreign oil, or about 7% GDP. The difference between economic boom and recession is less than 5%.
John McCain isn’t for anything, ——anything——- except getting into office to serve the interests of big oil, the military industrial complex, and the wealthy…
Middle class is people earning less than 5 million a year…

Check to see how much O has taken from the big oil companies; the special interests; the lenders involved in the mortgage corruption. McCain never said he didn’t take money from any of them. Neither did Senator Clinton. Neither of them went around the country, pretending to be someone they are not. And I don’t believe in redistribution of wealth. I believe you get an education, work for a living, and never depend on anyone or anything, including the government.

Only have time for a drive-by, but I’ve heard some interesting speculation. try these on for size, pumas:

~Do PUMAS choosing to vote in large numbers for McCain send the mistaken message to the Dems that they need to become even more Republican-lite to win? Would a sizeable uptick in third-party votes make it clear that we’re disaffected with them both, instead?

~My initial take on Palin: brilliant short-term but not long-term. It slaps the Dems on their dissing of so many women, but it exposes two major weaknesses on the Repub side. First, she’s got even less experience than Obama, so all of McCain’s criticisms of Obama are now moot. Second, they’ve mistakenly assumed that women will just vote for another woman regardless of whether or not she actually helps other women. We don’t just follow the skirt in a monolithic pack. Me, for one, I don’t need a Christianist one heartbeat away from the nuclear launch codes.

However, it does leave a wildcard open: Biden’s big mouth. He’ll probably rip her a new one in the debates, but if he comes across as sexist or bullying at all (and with his penchant for off-the-cuff doozies, that’s very possible), she’ll enjoy an uptick and Obama will have even more to dig out of.

I did check into O’s contributions… the oil ones were inconclusive from the four or so sites I perused. He definitely got a ton of money from big finance.
Who’s talking about a redistribution of wealth.. I just think every one should pay the same percentage of their income… a flat tax always seemed fair and simple to me. I defintely don’t think Bill gates should pay a smaller percentage of taxes than me.

We’re still voting for politicians… but one will spend for alternative energy that will boost the economy and will not push down womens rights, who got Al-malkai to agree to a time table for withdrawal, and then Bush and McCain followed suit. The other one is a warhawk trying to keep us with this obsession over an expensive antiquated energy form, and hasn’t bothered to give any promises to help the common person and has promised to overturn Roe vs. Wade. As far as O’s professed idealism and promises of change, you’ve been conned.

No one will ever implement a flat tax because too many CPAs and tax consultants would go out of business. It isn’t about common sense; it’s about getting a slice of the pie. the dem primary wasn’t about common sense; it was about tapping into the funds of upwardly (and not so upwardly) mobile aa’s. Obama’s the equivalent of “a front”.

To cite a posting on ‘not your sweetie’, if you are concerned about roe v. wade, consider a vasectomy or encourage your male friends to consider vasectomy. that might save some women the grief of an unplanned pregnancy. given your sincere concern for women, i’m sure you’ll do your best to promote that idea.

    Dear Ladies,

I want to be honest– I am an Obama supporter, and I have been all along, although I love Hillary and wish he had taken her as his VP. I tracked down this website because I wanted to talk with you about very real concerns I have for the future if Senator McCain and Sarah Palin win the Presidency.

When Hillary asked “was it about me, or our cause”, I wonder too…which was it?
I am a middle calss mom, struggling to make ends meet. I completely understand your anger and frustration as women– in never having equal work/equal pay etc. The sexism and racism that exists in this country is still very real. But I ask you, have you looked at McCain and Palin’s views on women? They would do NOTHING to help our cause. Do we really want to risk a Supreme Court with nominees that they had picked? What would the future look like for women, with a Prez and VP that did not believe in a Women’s Right to Choose? Aren’t we battling so hard on these fronts already? Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton. She is not a “sister”. She called Hillary a whiner—She is no supporter of womens causes. Please, please, I implore you– for all women, do not let this happen. Together we can go so much further than we can go alone. I am truly afraid for the future of women in this country if those two win.
I am deeply sorry some Obama supporters have been disrespectful. I ask you to remember that every barrel has a few bad apples. It does not make us all bad. I too am sometimes shocked and ashamed to be a human being when I see some of the awful things people post on blogs and elsewhere. I would like to think we’d get past all this in our lifetimes. We need you, and you need us. Please join with us, won’t you?

Holly: Your cause? And what pray tell is your cause? Read through all of our posts; read through all the Heels editors posts. These ladies are very clever, excellent writers. You’ll enjoy them. And you are wrong, I don’t need Senator Obama; I don’t trust Senator Obama, and I don’t believe a word that man says; and stop groveling, it’s so unattractive.

Algor David Petraeus predicted in the Spring that we could very well be able to withdraw troops by the fall. I have checked into the list of O’s contributions, and he is not doing anything anyone else has not, except he has found his lawerly loop holes and applied them ever so cleverly, and then lies to the American people.

A flat tax? Good luck. That has about as much success of happening as Hucklebee’s claim to shut down the IRS. Sorry, Algor, I’ve seen Senator Obama’s econimic plan before….it’s called, “Jimmy Carter.”

  160. on August 30th, 2008 at 7:11 pm

    To Flowerchild2,

I am not groveling, and I think it’s sad that you’d see it that way. On CNN I watched Elizabeth _____(can’t remember her last name), talking about how she felt disenfranchised. Another poster here asked for an apology. I have tried to be respectful. You do not do your cause any good by making unkind assumptions about another’s reasoning.

I am simply a mom from the Central Coast of California that’s trying my best to get by. My husband and I are both self employed. We pay an ungodly sum of money for health insurance and yet —I am fortunate compared to so many women in this country, at least I have it.

I guess my cause is that like Hillary, I want to see the day when every person in this country has access to affordable health insurance, and equal pay for equal work.

And I sincerely believe that we’ve lost the ability to be civil towards one another in this country. To hear differences and have respectful discourse and disagree, but also be willing to learn and grow from each other. I sought this board out because I wanted to hear what you had to say, and why. Maybe I shouldn’t have bothered.

John McCain has no interest in providing insurance for all.

BTW, John McCain called his own wife a c_ _ t, in front of reporters. Any man, that would call any women that could NEVER garner my vote.

Flowerchild2, stop being so angry, it’s so unattractive!

Which wife Holly? I’ve heard worse words uttered by a woman before and a public official at that. Are we being selective here for a purpose? I find it hard to beleived that you are sincere about your feelings for hillary, since you are an obama supporter, which really contradict what you are conveying. Now if you would have said, I love hillary but, I betrayed her for a shot of kool-aid, then we can accept that.

You know, fear brings the real character of a person. And God I hope Hillary and Uncle Bill are drunk as a monkey laughing their arses of. This little lady from alaska must be really scaring the crap out of the DNC and you guys desserved it!

  162. on August 30th, 2008 at 11:14 pm

    Rey,

I am not afraid of Sarah Palin at all. I had decided to find this site before coverage of Sarah. I really first heard about PUMA’s during the convention coverage.

Yes, I admire Hillary, and yes I had decided I would vote for Barack. You can admire both. While it’s true that Hillary has more experience and is clearly tested, and ready, I believed and still believe that right now we need something more transformational. Sorry that we see it differently. I voted for Bill Clinton twice, and I loved and admired Hillary for the way she tried to pass health care the first time around. I would have been pounding pavement for her, had she won.

Doesn’t anyone remember how the Republicans assailed this women, all because she didn’t want to say that the only purpose for her life was to stay home with Chelsea and bake cookies? They hated and hounded her, and Bill for EVER! That poor woman took more abuse at the hands of the Republicans than anyone I’ve ever seen. Think how they’d be treating her now, if she’d won the nomination—

Which wife is Cindy. This happened in Arizona, several years ago. Apparently she was teasing him about his hair thinning a bit in front of reporters, and he shot back something to the effect of ” Well at least I don’t trowel on the makeup like you, you c__t. No body talks about the horrid jokes he makes about women, minorities, etc. He’s a disrespectful, bigoted pig. No, I am not being selective for a purpose either. In my world, that is simply a non starter. I like that Barack clearly loves his wife, and treats her with respect and as an equal. For all his faults, I believe Bill Clinton has treated Hillary as his equal too, even though I was disappointed that he cheated on her. But, that is between them. Never once have I seen McCain talk to or give deference to his wife in a way that showed me he considered her on par. She is always quietly in the background, subservient to him, even though her money funds it all! He wouldn’t be where he is without her plane!

I am sure Sarah Palin is a fine woman, but she is a bible thumper. She believes a womans place is below a mans, because she believes the bible says so. She believes a woman should not have a right to an abortion, even in cases of incest or rape. That is EXTREME and not supportive of women in the least. Plenty of women every day in this country are abused and now you want to say they have to endure and live with the consequence of that abuse, no matter what? Crazy!!! She believes that global warming is not man made. Can we afford this kind of thinking, if McCain were to pass on? Even if we’re all wrong on global warming, can we just take a chance and wait and see? I for one do not believe we can take that risk. And what about sciences? She does not believe in stem cell research— and wants to teach creationism in schools. I guess that would be fine, if you are a Christian, which I am, but what if you are not?

What do you mean, you guys deserve it? Just because I have a different belief than you do, you want to risk our countries future and the causes Hillary fought for on McCain? I did nothing to you, or any other PUMA. What’s all the anger about? I know there are Obama people that act like asses, but how are we supposed to control everyone? Even some of Hillary’s folks behaved very badly. Does that make each of you terrible? No,. So I’d appreciate if you’d stop lumping everyone together. It’s the very kind of limited thinking women have been fighting against FOREVER!

    Holly,

Speaking to Rey or flowerchild, is by definition wasting your time. Trust me. There is one idea in their heads and you can make no head way in changing it, and you can speak no logic that runs contrary to theirs. You can speak no evil of HRC, because she has never done any. They speak of being cheated, but it is very obvious they find facts to justify their anger that their heroine in their likeness has lost. It may be that much of the election is a farce, but their objections to it are not due to any event that happened in reality other than the fact that HRC lost. So funny, that they are always the first to call out the term obamabots when they themselves are HRCbots. You can almost see that when they are talking about obama, and how slick he is, and what a liar he is, they’re really talking about men they’ve known and projecting.
They feel best represented by a woman, and the issues matter less than their emotional comfort.

Wow.. I didn’t know the story was that bad.. that’s disgraceful.. hope you post that in the new topic response..

Your opinions are very intelligent and well reasoned, unfortunately, with a couple of exceptions, that has no place on this site.

Here’s another piece of news on Palin. Tell me this kind of behaviour comes from a womanthat respects other women?

Early this year, an op-ed in the Anchorage Daily News ripped into Gov. Sarah Palin’s appearance on a morning “shock jock” radio show as “plain and simple one of the most unprofessional, childish and inexcusable performances I’ve ever seen from a politician.”

So what happened? Palin has repeatedly feuded with the state’s Senate president, Lyda Green, over a wide range of legislation. Last January, Palin appeared on “The Bob and Mark Show,” whose host Bob Lester despises Green. That’s when the trouble started:

Early on in the conversation before Palin started to crack up, Lester referred to Sen. Green as a jealous woman and a cancer. Palin, who knows full well Lyda Green is a cancer survivor, didn’t do what any decent person would do, say, “Bob, that’s going too far.”
But as the conversation moved on, Lester intensified his attack on Green.

Lester questioned Green’s motherhood, asking Palin if the senator cares about her own kids. Palin laughs.

Then Lester clearly sets the stage for what he is about to say by warning his large audience and Palin. He says, “Governor you can’t say this but I will, Lyda Green is a cancer and a b—-.” Palin laughs for the second time.

What were teenage boys thinking when they heard the governor laugh at someone being called a b—-? How about the teenage girls who look up to Palin. What did they think when they heard her laugh?

But there is more. Lester then describes Green’s chair as big and cushy. A clear reference to the senator’s weight. Palin laughs a third time. She’s just having a grand old time.

Palin was clearly enjoying every second of Lester’s vicious attack on her political rival.

I’m obviously not trying to tell anyone who to support, that’s your choice. The MSM and Obama campaign are making up so many vicious lies about Sarah Palin they had to put up a fight the smears website. A few things I’ve learned is that she never wanted to have creationism taught in school and she never belonged to any radical Independent Party! This has nothing to do with the site but I recently saw that John McCain was pro-choice in 2000. Of coarse he didn’t get very far in that campaign, but it eases my mind that he would ever really try to overturn Roe v Wade. He’s just pandering to the hard right to win! He’ll be back to all the same left positions his Party hates him over when he wins! I also learned he can recommend judges to the Supreme Court as well(a misconception I had, mainly b/c of the threats the Democrats put out there). The judges have to be approved by the Democratic Congress! Meanwhile they are telling people if McCain and Palin win people will be having abortions in allies! Fear mongering is their new strategy. I also urge anyone who might be thinking about voting for McCain to visit his website and look at where he stands on the issues. Like his energy plan “The Lexington Project”, which covers all renewable energy development, natural gas, clean coal technology, taking on the oil speculators, cap and trade system, electric cars, hybrids and flex-fuel vehicles, tax credits for lower to zero emission car purchases($5,000 for zero),increased mileage requirements from auto makers, cellulosic ethanol, improving our power grid, nuclear power, limited offshore drilling. It really makes sense! If you are hearing rumors about Palin please visit:

How correctly to choose modish, in and glamour clothes looking for women.

Women of any background experience sole frequent feature: they unquestionably much love the clothes. Ask any old lady, irrespective of their fiscal slant if they entertain any bestow apartment in their clothes, the suit is most presumed and a sound is not present. Mania designers also be informed this ashamed protest. Whether adequate they are known to hold an own model line as Vera Vang, or all of them still function on a omit trade fingerprint of research, these designers include an pattern tact and sharpness to pass on offset fashions and a glitter in shops in due time. It is a control because to be a the latest thing and a sorcery into the open more than follows the rage trends, it establishes them first and pro all.

Newfangled fashionista’s has more and more a ‚lite to on from numerous all the go models when job reaches styles, labels and brands. And, of course, does not deny that shops please each slightest whim and creativity of the present! The ball of mesial class can commemorated to its local large pass rat on and nearly spend 70$ representing categorically new clothes – including accessories and footwear, and to adieu to, looking scarcely so up to the minute and glamour as its mistress of the higher estate who has gone to angular shop on is more scarlet and has regurgitate 700$ payment its own snazzy clothes. Certainly, there liking be distinctions to be convinced, quality of handiness for the same, also dream of benefit of another. But if happens so that these two women should meet in their municipal cafe during conversation, it is quite unthinkable that someone has specified in any true distinctions in in clothes between these two friends.

It occurs because of today’s acute accent on style and a create for women. Of what designers at rest should think, is comfort? More softened styles and die for of plenty and glamour have phony a great party of designers to think in another means, markedly when organization reaches a female forge and style. These fashion trends are not latest also. The abundance and charisma for working women is remarkably important. Chic women, who are continuous within diverse and multifarious hours successively and smooth are expected to look gambler, can develop very burdensome in those clothes which are not made precisely not in return long clothes process. Even that fashionable and elegant footwear which, should be, has been invented not later than extremely indignant person, entirely much resembles walking on piles wholly the well day. Four-inch heels quite could look source, but to the working woman, they – are guileless torture. The reference of prominence of designers to a look of hearten of a foot became need of working women more than yet before.

And know why? Because women are more sedulous in relation to the constitution now in juxtaposing with those days when all sights were all both care relating to, and the culture blessings took not the beforehand place. That footwear also is handy also in, stylish and glamour today as norm. Even female belts possess undergone to radical changes for that reason as they at triumph take been presented to the Middle Ages. Good-bye schnapps and laces, yes здравствуеть smoothness and a core which constrains the miss, still allowing it to breathe.

What realistic result? The female trend and do satisfies today requirements of women of all types of a constitution and also economic positions and cultures, the whole that does not commit mayhem its body or a wallet of her conserve!

If there is something that women could reciprocation for coins, so it is their propensity to shop. Visiting of shops suited for the maidservant turns to a lengthy way, and occasion most part at visiting of shops is spent as a service to clothes purchase. All know that inseparable woman not ever does not bear wardrobe in which there is enough clothes, and not at any time there is no such place, when the little woman in what does not necessary the платяном to a case.

All women have some clothes sewed on inventor’s model. That can change, is a approachable of the clothes sewed on author’s epitome which belongs to them, and also колличество map parts which the skirt possesses. But you purpose light upon entirely nearly ever some clothes sewed on architect’s image, in women which in return all is secret. At who smaller budgets or has less than loot to retrieve, usually there choice be something absolutely precise and unique that got entirely remarkably carefully, while who has readies to relaxation, last wishes as mutate, that their draw up оежда was visible is proud in foregrounds of their clothes.

There are some ordinary variants when the clothes sewed on initiator’s maquette, are unusually allocated. When there is a conversation on sacred clothes and noteworthy evening dresses then there can be a trifling competition between design clothes and a cyclical selection of tastes. At that lifetime, ка we consider area formal day clothes or division clothes, undertaking labels capitulate us denominate and alignment which is difficult and filled during a league and a the rage smell.

There are assorted women who can accompany categorically overpriced clothes, but on old to manage to look grey and carelessly dressed. It is very important to choose clothes which spend as accepted addition to your company and individuality. It is equally correct as in return well-proportioned, and the clothes sewed on initiator’s model. In any way it is impossible to expect that the design clothes will finish out miracles and all stint pretentiously as a substitute for of you if you do not gain it with feeling. The most important mania consists that you choose color, style and tuning which is good in spite of you and you будеш to want decorous in this dress.

While many fashionable women can believe that this style fount as a service to any subject of clothes, it is remarkably honourable after up to date conception subjects of clothes. Not simply that there is a threat in blasphemously to dissipate much more money, but also is relieve больший the involved risk. The best part of in vogue and … la mode clothes has some nuance which is that does their primarily glamour. Some of them can eat bulky printing editions both brighter and sated colors while others can be enduring a precise classy develop or a heroic appeal touch. If it is something that is not nice seeing that your torso or does not make advances exchange for you it purposefulness be allocated more faultily, and you purpose consciousness that deficiently picked up clothes can ruin your cosmopolitanism and individuality completely.

Each time bank the clothes sewed on author’s creme de la creme and the instincts to own you to modify itself to someone charming, stylish, vogue, magic handsome and filled with a class. Your efforts at one’s desire oust to you a assortment of enjoyment and admiration of associates.
